ARUN is going to hold Social Investment International Symposium next month,
Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th in Tokyo.
I will give you a brief introduction to our guest speakers.

I met Mr. Ben Simmes, representative of Oikocredit, 4 years ago.
Ben welcomed us with kind smiles to their main office in Holland, and answered
many questions from us about investment policies and practical operation.
Oikocredit has been investing to small and medium-sized enterprises such as
producers’ cooperatives and fair trade organizations.
His lecture for the Symposium on 6-7th October will be based on the Oikocredit’s
practices in 70 countries worldwide and I very much looking forward to it.

Mr. Vineet Rai, the founder and Managing Director of Aavishkaar will be joining us,
representing the leading social investment fund in India. Aavishkaar focuses on
the bottom layer of society in India, aiming to be the pioneer in building financial
system that supports the growth of entrepreneurs in the area of agriculture,
renewable energy, health and IT.  Mr. Vineet also has extensive fundraising
experience in western and various countries around the world

And more guests will be there.  All of our outstanding guests’ profiles will be on
our website soon. So, please stay tuned!

We hope that the symposium will give all of us, the participants and our
experienced guests alike, opportunities to debate freely and  redfine the
meaning of “investment” and “return”, which we explore in ARUN’s daily activities.

We are looking forward to your participation!

<3> News from Cambodian Investee, Study Tour Report    by ARUN Partner
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Here is a report by one of ARUN Partner who participated in the study tour held at
the time of the businesscompetition.

I participated in the ARUN Cambodia Study Tour from August 9th through 12th.
I have been investing ARUN since the end of 2011, but this was the first time joining
the study tour, visiting and hearing stories from the ARUN investees and the farmers.
It deepened my understanding of the business status of the investees and their
challenges, and the status of the rural villages.

At Arjuni, Ms. Wilson, the CEO, explained us about the hair extension business’s
challenges and innovation for problem solving, and showed us the hair extension
factory.
